Like most of the towns along the Main Line, Gladwyne was originally an agrarian community that developed into a thriving community after the railroad was built through it and the mills that were present at its founding faded out. Gladwyne experienced another revitalization when the Schuylkill Expressway was built in the 1960s, skyrocketing the community’s appeal thanks to the new easy access

THINGS TO DO
Lush nature, community spaces, and private clubs are the gems of Gladwyne. This quiet community doesn’t have a ton of large public events, but they consistently make up for it in smaller ways.
Rolling Hill Park is 103 acres of gorgeous woodland that offers fun for all ages. Those who want to make use of its many miles of trails can do so with dogs and horses. There are places for picnicking and fishing and even a handful of historic buildings along the trails.
Mill Creek Dog Park is the area’s only off-leash dog park, and it’s open from sunrise to sunset. It’s a gorgeous space for dog owners to gather and socialize while their dogs play.
Getting a membership at the Philadelphia Country Club is about more than just its incredible 27-hole golf course. It has a full roster of events, a shooting lodge, fitness and spa facilities, an Olympic-size swimming pool, and yoga classes.
