Villanova was settled by Quakers in the 19th century and, along with the other Main Line communities, began to flourish with the traffic that came from the train. It was full of country estates for wealthy Philadelphia residents, and some of those estates were converted to institutional use for Villanova University.
 
It has always had large estate-style residences, and those who live in Villanova continue to enjoy the privacy of large homes and spacious lots. Stone houses and French Colonial are just a few of the styles you’ll find in the luxurious homes here.

Villanova is a peaceful neighborhood with a handful of small shops and restaurants. Many homes are within easy walking distance of the train station. Though most professionals commute into the city, there are several large employers close at hand, including Villanova University. Because of the university, the neighborhood feels young and vibrant even though it’s mainly residential.

The centerpiece of the neighborhood is Villanova University. With its beautiful grounds, lectures, and events, it's a wonderful place to be even if you aren’t a student there.
 
Radnor Trail is a 2.4-mile paved trail that runs along what was once part of the P&W railroad. It has multiple entrances along its length and is perfect for running, cycling, strollers, and rollerblading. Radnor Valley Country Club is a perfect club for active families and has plenty to do for all ages. Overbrook Golf Club has been serving its members since 1900, and it continues to provide incredible amenities and a top-notch golf course.
